Make it your own

Now the whole 2012 End Times circus is in full swing and we are being showered with workshops, books , movies, channelings, dire and not so dire predictions, “truths and revelations”, “mark-your-calendar-something-big-is-gonna-hit-us”-newsletters like beads during a Mardi Grass parade, I’d like to say one thing:

– MAKE IT YOUR OWN –

Let me explain what I mean by this – and it doesn’t just apply to 2012 (or 2011), but to every advise or theory  that’s thrown your way. Yes, including this article (free practice material, you’re welcome).

How do you know about 2012? If you’re like me, you probably at some point (perhaps many years ago) read about it somewhere, heard someone talk about it, most likely in reference to the Mayan Calendar (If you follow the Calleman calendar: that one ends on October 28th 2011). And the closer we draw to these landmark dates (whether it’s 12/21/2012, 12/12/2012, 10/28/2011, 11/11/2011) the stronger the roar of prophecy is becoming. I am not saying that these aren’t Times with a capital T, because I think they are (even if it’s just in my private universe). But how do I know? Really know for myself, for my own path, as my own authentic truth. You can draw from many sources for lessons and insights, but how do you back them up, for yourself? Where’s your evidence, your own testimony? Be your own witness.

There is such a fear of being left out, left behind, of not belonging. What Wayne Dyer calls the power of the tribe – “and the mantra of the tribe is ‘But what will they think?’ – that’s why I left the tribe a long time ago “. If anything, it’s time to start listening and walking to the beat of your own drum again…pa rum pum pum pum.

Here’s a little thought experiment: what if in tomorrow’s news paper (I know this sounds really ancient and analogue, but you get the picture) you would find out that the 2012 story is one big decades old ploy of western intelligent services, media moguls, bankers, the military-industrial complex and slick marketeers. And you read it and know for a fact that it really was all a hoax, including all the calendars, books, channeled messages, internet sites, the whole shabang. (…breathe easy now, I’m just trying to make a point).

Now, what do I really know, even in the face of this dismantling? What’s left: only that which I’ve made my own. My truth, my inner guidance, my own experiences, the real stuff. The rest is all decoration.

No hiding behind spiritual authority figures. No upset finger pointing because some supposed meteor didn’t wreak havoc on our planet, even though your guru predicted it (and sold you a timeshare in an underground bunker and a life’s supply of canned beans). It’s your responsibility, own up to it. When someone gets all “2012” and “Big Shift”-ish on you and how “you must be feeling that too, right?” – just be honest and true to yourself. Please. Just like it’s 1996 and there is no outside reference like a popular calendar date  you can theorize towards to. If these times are about anything it is authenticity, which can only come from within. So you’ve got to make it your own, to come into your own.
